Military satellites are used to support national security objectives by providing secure communications, surveillance, treaty verification, emergency/backup networks and border monitoring. In addition, peacekeeping support operations, arms control verification and integrated defense systems leverage military satellite technology.
COM DEV made significant inroads into the military space market by developing world-leading capabilities in UHF radio frequency equipment, which is well-suited to secure communications. In order to better meet the needs of satellite contractors to the U.S. Government, the world’s largest purchaser of military space technology, we established a production facility in El Segundo, California in 2007. The objective of COM DEV USA is to become the leading supplier of passive microwave equipment for U.S. Government space missions. COM DEV’s typical customers in this market are Northrop Grumman Space Technology, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and others.
